Ok just spent the better part of two days removing the old rotted out wood floor from my 86 f150 4x4 stepside shortbed.
I plan on making this truck last as long as possible even if I buy a new one I still like the looks of the 86 stepside.
. The hard part is done removing the bed from the truck and torching off all those bolts holding the rotten wood on.Here is my question.
Should I go with another wood floor or just weld in a piece of diamond plate ? No matter what I do I am going to put a paint on bed liner on it. Its going to be a work and play truck but still want it to look nice.
The whole truck is going to be painted flat black again (right now its primer and red from the donor truck )as its easier to take out the many scrathes one gets from four wheeling.

I saw some fake wood boards at lowes
its for decks they say it should last
for ever. I don't know what your rails
look like.it may be cheaper to put
steel in it if you use steel I would
make sure you get it thick enough so it
wont sag under a load you may need to
make a frame under it to hope I helped
some.
I would probably cover the entire bed interior w/ the diamond plate. It would be a lot easier and less maint. in the future. IMO it would look a lot better also. The diamond plate isn't cheap though.
