fuel problem?
Hi guys I have a 1990 F-150 with the efi 300 in it, my problem is that when its cold it runs just fine yet once it warms up it will run as if theirs a carb problem...but its a efi motor...it will spit and sputter like fuel when I go deeper into the throttle, this wont happen when it's up high in the rpm range but I’m still pulling hills at 50 or under on the free way and that’s with a running start. also it runs kind of good when I’m using the rear tank but like crap with the front tank, this morning I was tinkering with it and I fired it up let the oil get to where it needs to go and then I went gradually went to WOT then when it got to about 75% throttle it started to sputtered (btw it dose that all the time). I’ve checked the oil and theirs no water, and I’m keeping all my water too. do theis trucks have a vacume advance? Could that be the problem with the sputtering? i should clean out the fuel tanks cause it sat for at least a year before I got it. I’ve already replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, done an oil change, and replaced the inline fuel filter. i no longer know what might be the problem.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

I would suggest testing the TFI module, checking your stator and pickup inside the distributor, and cleaning out the tanks. You may also want to check the pickup filters in the tanks for deterioration. Outside of that, check all your vaccum stuff. You may also want to take some spray carb cleaner and clean up your throttle body, etc., and use it to spray around the intake to check for leaks. Another issue might be related to the EGR. Might want to invest in a code reader and pull codes to see if there are any CM or other error codes in the computer coming up - not all codes will make the 'check engine' light come on.
