hey guys, my air bag light came on the other day and has stayed on, it does not flash just stays on, i think at the same time the bulb for the light that says on or off for the passenger air bag went out, did that trigger the light? i tried searching and posting in the superduty and heavy duty section with no luck, any help is greatly appreciated. thanks, jake.
Yep, if the passenger indicator light burns out, it will set your airbag light. My friend who is a diesel tech at a ford dealership explained to me that it makes a full test cycle, and if that light is blown, it sets the light. Go to Radioshack and pick up a replacement bulb, and sauder (sp?) it in. Problem solved lol

No offense, but it is solder.
I had the same problem. If you watch after start up it will flash code 27. Two flashes than a pause then seven flashes. I tried the stupid solder an LED in and all I ended up doing was messing the part up. The regular light lasted for the first 6-10 years and I bet you will sell the truck in another 6-10 years. I know we all talk big about keeping them forever, but they are Fords. Someday the bed will rust out above the wheel wells and the cab will rust through the cab mounts. Oh, I forgot the cab corners will also rot off.
ok, well i finally got around to looking at the bulb, it shows no signs of being bad and it tested good, there is still absolutely no flashing, light comes on with the key and stays lit. is there a fuse or something?
you need to retrieve the airbag code as they told you earlier... when you start up the vehicle, it will flash, count the numbers, it will then flash again... it will spit out a 2-7 or a 2-8 , etc, then it will come on permanently... once you get the code you can tell which component is throwing off the code, there' s much more to the airbag system then just the lightbulb...
it does not flash, i have tried this many times, it never flashes, i will turn the key on and there it is even during cranking its on and when running it stays on never skips a beat.
it could be the airbag computer. its right in the middle of your truck, under the dash. its a black piece of plastic you have to take off and its right behind that. i had to replace it when i replaced my airbags and now the light is off. mine wasnt flashing either
