I purchase a 97 F250 last summer with a 7.5 460 motor. I started to get some small rust so i deceided to park it in the barn for the winter. Since i have never worked on anything before i deceide to change plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Is there Anything else i should do before spring? Also im stupid on motors is ther any motor break downs i can look at for my truck? Truck is sharp and runs great so i wanna keep it that way
Ha! I wanted to do the same things to my 1997 F250 when I purchased it 2 years ago. You can also do the following as part of general maintenance:
1. Flush the radiator coolant.
2. Replace the serpentine belt.
3. Inspect pulley system for bearing wear, replace if needed.
4. Flush the transmission and replace filter.
5. Replace PVC valve.
6. Clean the throttle body (our trucks don't have MAF).
7. Replace fuel filter.
8. Inspect battery, replace if needed.
That should cover most of the typical & basic maintenance issues. BTW, welcome to FTE!
