It's all personal preference....I myself change every 3500 miles like clockwork on all four of my vehicles. I have one pushing 200K and uses no oil between changes. Probably wouldn't be doing that if I had extended my intervals.

Agreed! There are those of us who like spending $$$ on our trucks even if it is not absolutely necessary... It creates jobs and a sense of hope. It's our personal "Stimulus Package."
Here is my non technical advise. Change every 5000 miles....easy math and easy to remeber when to do it. I have always done every vehicle this way and never had problems either with syn or regular oil. my wifes escalade if you followed the oil monitor it would tell me to change at 10K.
the 6.0 gets 5000 mile changes because i feel the 7500 is too far. and it's easy to remember. my gassers have always gotten 3k to 4k. when they're older and do a lot more around town driving, they'll get a shorter change.
i don't know if ford does this, but the old boss's chebby had the display telling him when to change the oil and it usually said 7k on the 6.0 gasser. now with their dusty roads and pulling a lot of weight around it just seems to be way too far to go on an oil change. 5k maybe, but not 7k+.
