fuel issues?
I have a 93 f150 with a 4.9L and dual tanks. Intermittently the truck runs rough and doesn't want to accelerate(shutters) The engine light will come on at random for a few seconds or flicker at that time. If I switch tanks to the rear it will run instantly better. Unfortunately my rear tank leaks badly and the mid-ship tank is new. I changed the fuel filter and it ran fine for an hour or so, but it wasn't in bad shape when I changed it. The code is "lean fuel" or something to that effect. I was told by the shop that changed the filter the pump could be failing. Is the pump in the rear tank a "transfer" pump or does it work independently of the fuel system? It seems logical that the mid-ship pump is going bad, but would it cause the intermittent problem or do I have other issues? thanks in advance
