Alternator Bar?
I am looking for a part which is hard to figure out its name, it is the bar/bracket where the alternator pivots (not rides).
It is basically a cylindrical rod with a tapped hole along the center of its axis on one end, and a thru hole perpendicular to the cylinder's axis on the other end, here the cylinder also has two machined flats to seat better. The thru hole is for a bolt which screws directly to the engine, and the tapped hole is for the bolt where the alternator pivots as it rides up/down on the other bracket (what we commonly know as an alternator bracket).
I'm sure this was used many years afterwards, just not sure how to describe it better when I call junk yards, they have so far told me "we don't have anything that old".
Does anyone know of a source, or maybe up to what year this hardware was used on the 352?
Any pointers appreciated, I am close to welding something together, I just want something that will work.
Thanks

Can't seem to get a picture of the part you are referring to; sound like possibly the spacer that goes between the alt. and block. Unfortunately the 65 F100 with the 390ci is store some distance away and can't look under the hood. Posting a link to pic, poor one at that, of an alternator bracket setup. Perhaps if an item looks familiar there are a few FTE memers who may be able to provide a p/n, keeping in mind there are various combinations of Alt. bracket setups. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...torBracket.jpg
As last resort, posting 3 links to an items on ebay, seem to recall they look familiar to the alt. bracket assembly on the my 390.

Want brackets, I'll show you bracket!
Anyhow, with any luck a member more knowledgeable than I can provide additional info. Again welcome,
Thanks for all the info, I should have done this earlier, this is the part that broke, in my block this bolts into the side thru the hole (now broken) indicated by my pinky, the end where my index finger is takes that bolt and the alternator, that nut seen there and the washers were being used as poor a man's spacer.

Thanks

I am looking for a part which is hard to figure out its name, it is the bar/bracket where the alternator pivots (not rides).

What you have pictured is someones Mickey Mouse creation...the original spacer looks nothing like that.
D1AZ8A652A .. Aluminum Spacer / 7/16" I/D. / 1.00" O.D. / 4 7/8" Long / Cut to fit (that's what Ford says to do).
This spacer has a cut out along its entire length, it's not threaded.
Therefore, the ends of the spacer resemble the letter C.
The long alternator mounting bolt goes thru this spacer, threads into the rear alternator bracket, the bracket bolts to the block.
From the looks of things, a previous owner of your truck had a problem with the alternator bracket(s), or damaged/lost the original spacer, Mickey Moused this "spacer" to work.
The spacer is still available from Ford, and is used on many cars/trucks from 1965 thru today.
1965/73 Mustangs, 1966/79 Bronco's, 1965/79 F100/350's, and etc...use the same spacer.
MSRP: $34.56 // FTEpartsguy.com price: $20.74.
There are SIX FoMoCo dealers in TX (and one obsolete parts vendor in Farmers Branch) that have the spacer in stock.
Post what city you're in...I'll see if any are nearby, then you can go have a look at it.
Never seen anything like the items in your pic, as Bill noted, seems prior owner came up with a 'makeshift' substitute. Suggest replacing the bolt and spacer but first confirm the size of the threads in the block, prior owner may have rethreaded, anythings possible. After swapping 300ci for 302ci I used a piece of tubular aluminum stock, cut to the desired length, and for several years no problem, just happened across the correct spacer and swapped when the alternator was replaced.
I live in Austin, so I am guessing Brownings?
So based on this.
"The long alternator mounting bolt goes thru this spacer, threads into the rear alternator bracket, the bracket bolts to the block."
I could not find a picture of the parts.
So does the rear alternator bracket has holes (one threaded) that are perpendicular to each other?
Here is a shot of my block, not very clear but there are two holes, perhaps the creator of the Mickey Mouse solution bolted the bracket in the wrong location (swapped with that ground).
In the picture the blue line represents the axis of the bolt that holds Mickey Mouse, Mickey Mouse is poorly delineated in blue held in place by my middle finger.
The red line represents the axis of another bold which is now holding a grounding cable, this bolt is smaller and higher, not to mention 90 degrees to the other one.
Are these swapped or does the rear aternator bracket in fact have perpendicular holes for bolts?
So far I am guessing Mr. Disney swapped the holes.
A career in photography is definitely out of my reach, I apologize for the pics.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

The spacer goes between the rear of the alternator and the rear mounting bracket that bolts to the engine.
The bolt goes thru the altermator, thru the spacer and threads into the bracket which has a raised threaded boss on it.
TX dealers that stock D1AZ8A652A:
B. F. WHITE in Stanton / VILLAGE FORD in Pilot Point / CPW DISTRIBUTING in Grand Prairie / DEALER SERVICES WAREHOUSE in Houston / KINSEL L/M in Beaumont (800-816-2894) / ARNOLD OIL COMPANY in Corpus Christie.
PARTS INTERNATIONAL, an obsolete parts vendor located in Farmers Branch, also has the spacer: 888-727-0418.
If you buy one sight unseen, suggest you get it from FTEpartsguy, as that will save you some $$. Info in post #4.
