92 cab and wheelwell rust
Got the old girl up on stands now.
When I get it down I'd like to do something to stop the spread of cancer on the driver's side cab under the little window of the extended cab at the bottom of the cab. I also have rust over both rear wheel wells. The cab rust showed up as a little bubble in the paint and within a week it was fist-sized. The wheelwells have 2 or 3 small rust bubbles the size of pinheads coming up from under the paint. I hear this very common within this model of truck. What I want to know is what causes it? I can get it fixed but I only want to have to do it once. Also want to stop the rust on the passengers side before it's a problem. And I don't want it coming back.
Is there a cause?
Why do all these trucks do this?
What can I do for preventative repairs?
there is an inner fender well that is welded to the outer panel in this
area and it provides a shelf for road dirt and grime to collect there .
When it rains or snows this area also gets wet,but never dries out, then
the end result is what you have RUST! I'm sorry to say but once it starts it hard to stop! without replacing all infected steel, then sealing it from the elements.
you could have it repaired only to have it comeback in a yr or 2
sad but true!
This becomes a never ending battle in the eyes of the bodyman
Drain holes become plugged with dirt and grime cause doors to rust
along with rocker panels
