Funny you should say that. I have a `87 F250 6.9 C6 with RABS and the sensor mounted on top of the rear diff.
How to figure?
don't really know.
none of the 6 88 to 91 diesels with 10 1/4 rears i had when i was still in business had any sensors at all on the diff. the sensors were mounted into the rear of the BW 1356 transfer case at the speedometer pickup.
The RABS control module is on top of the transmission tunnel and behind the ash tray grouped with the cruise ECM. I don`t know if it has its own ground or not.
If you look under the dash either near the parking brake pedal or behind the glove box you should find a black wire with an orange stripe with a connector on it. This is the RABS diagnostic connector. With the ABS light on if you momentarily ground this wire the ABS light should blink out a fault code. You could try that.
The sure way to bypass the RABS is to get a short length of brake pipe and use it to bypass the RABS valve body on the left side frame rail.
Hope this helps.
