My ears are bleeding
HI, I have a 2003 3.0 flexfuel 6cyl ranger, with 67000 mls. There Is a horendous whining sound from under the hood. The sound progress's with rpm's. sound was really light a few months ago starting around 3500-4000 rpms. Its now extremely loud and starts at 1900-2000 rpms. almost sounds like a bearing, from what I know of bearings, but Im no expert. Has anyone heard of this problem before? Thanks so much!

Here are the suspects Water pump, Alternator, Air conditioner (if equipped) idler pulleys tensioners Air pump (if equiped) Power steering pump.. An auto stethospcope can really pin point the sound and only cost a few buckets at the parts stores in lieu of that a piece of dowel rod also works.
