Transmission Swap
I have an 84 F-150 4x4 with the 351W engine and C6 automatic trans. I'm thinking if swapping for a later 5spd with overdrive for improved fuel economy. Has anyone tried this swap? How did you handle the clutch issue? I believe the 1984 year with a 4 speed would have had a mechanical clutch, whereas the later 5 speed O/D trans would have a hydraulic clutch.

I believe the 84 did have a hydraulic clutch. Only the first two years had the mechanical.
