I got some more cash for my build. One big ticket item I want to purchase is an aftermarket tilt column. I'm moving my 66 metal to a 79 frame. I got rid of the 79 metal including the column "doh!" Anyway, if I get a chrome ididit column for a 79 will it fit in my truck or do I need to go with a custom length column? They also offer 66 columns but now that I have power steering I don't think it will work.
Anyone know the column lengths for these two f-100's?
The overall length is pretty much the same from 65-79 with the big difference in the connect point of the non-power and older Bendix power vr the Ford/Saginaw power setup in the 70s trucks.
The Ford gear has about 2 1/3" of pump related material that moves the connect point closer to the firewall while using a shorter column.

Find a 78 or 79 Lariat and it should have a factory tilt wheel in it that will work. I also have a modified E series column that I'm sure I will get around to installing one day.
