gas tank question

wondering what size gas tank is on my 92 f150 (how many gallons)
its a 92 reg cab long box 4x4 w/ dual tanks would like to know how many gallons the front tank is.

mainly im only getting 200 miles out of the front tank if i drive really really nice, now i always thought the front tank would hold more than the rear tank and on the rear my old truck would get 200-225 driving decently.

thanks.

You can't really figure gas mileage that way. Guages aren't that accurate etc. If your trip odometer works, fill both, or just one, gas tank(s) reset your trip odometer, drive a long distance, refill and figure MPG.

The front tank on my 82 long box is 19 gals. If I'm not mistaken.
I think a short box front tank is only 16gals so I'm guessing yours would be a 19 gal

Long bed, front tank should be 19.1, back 18.2.

I'm gonna have to find my owners manual for my old 88 I thought the front tank was a gallon or 2 smaller than the rear tank? may be able to find the one in my 92 if the p.o did not throw it away!

1991 f150 shorty 16 Gal. front & 18 Gal. rear 302-5 Let. auto
1996 f150 4X4 long 19 Gal. front & 18 Gal. rear 351-5.8 Let. auto

I have owned both for several years and have replaced tanks or pumps on them. Te 91 has 327,000 on it and 72,354 on the 96. I have never had the top nor botton ends opened up yet, and they still run great for their age and miles. Hope this helps. Check and make sure that the return fuel is being sent to the same tank that is in use. It could be a bad pump in the front tank, or if you run it dry, letting return fuel into the front tank when using the rear tank, or reversed in your case.

i know the back tank leaks so i dont use it, i just thought it would have a bigger front tank than the rear and my cruising range on the front being only 200 i thought something was wrong, but being that they are so close in size then everything is within reason. thanks for you help.

I get 300 miles on the front tank of my 92. It's a 2wd. I had an other 92 4wd years ago and I'd only get about 150-200 miles.
