Unfortunately I cannot remember my old password so those of you who knew me as wild manimal, I am still here but with a slightly -less -cool handle. Anyway: I have a 94 F250 and I am going to put a cd player in it from another vehicle. I was able to obtain the necessary wiring harness from the local mal-wart, but when I was looking for the plastic mounting adapter ( I can't think of another term), they only had them for trucks from 89-92, and they had them for trucks from 95-something. I went to several different stores, and all the stores were this way. Is it that my local stores don't have the right kit? Or is it that the trucks from 93 and 94 had different mounting locations that the mount kit can't be used in? I was just wondering if anyone had a 94 they put a stereo in the stock spot and how they did it. Also: Ford has these four holes on the stereo that you are supposed to insert this U-shaped tool in to depress the springs to remove the stereo. Will a bent clotheshanger work or do I have to get this silly tool?
I got an empty hole in my 90 f150 i dont see any brackets in there nothing. What do i need to put a radio in? Single din radio and some kind of bracket kit?
OK. I have personally changed MANY stereos out of trucks. Your truck SHOULD only require the removal of the old stereo, with the funny U clip thingies. I would advise that you use those for ease of use. When you put the new stereo in, it has a metal case around it that requires supplied clip releases to get the stereo out of. You put THAT case in the hole in your dash, and i should fit somewhat snug. There are small lips on the edge of this case and these will stop it from going in any further. Once this case is in, wire your stereo, and insert. Don't forget the antenna plug!
correct or the allen wrench trick works good too-to remove- if ford did not install the extra little screw/ bolt in the rear of the stock radio!then ya got a problem to get it out-mine came out in pieces could not get enough room to remove that one little attachment on the rear!putting the new one in should be a snap-the wiring hook up is a must-on most new ones the outer case slides off the radio-install it into the radio cavity bend over tabs so it stays -wire up radio-then slid the new one in-piece of cake!
Okay, thanks for the advice 460. I will attempt the coat hanger trick, and I am looking at the sleeve that fits around the stereo. It has little tabs that you bend out to secure it to the mounting hole. Thanks for the help!!!! I kind of figured that was how it should be, but just wanted to make sure that I had all the required parts.
