Head Unit Relocation

Got a carputer and am planning to install my screen in the stock double-din bezel. I want to keep my 1-din Alpine head unit as the main controller so I need to move it.
I am looking at the spot just above the catch-all tray on the center console (Labeled "Head" in the photo below).
I need help identifying #1 and #2 in the photo. At least one of these are going to have to be moved in order in fit my HU.
I realize I won't have rear heat/air anymore.
I think #1 might be an airbag control.
#2 is a plastic box... Not sure it's exact function.
Any help is much appreciated!
