Speedo Gear

hey everyone,,,im going to be putting bigger tires on my 77 150 due to the fact that i hate how small the wheel wells look and i was wondering how hard it will be and to change the gear out for my speedo so it reads correctly,,i have never done this before so any tips would be apprciated 77 f150 400 2wd

on my 75 250 4x4 its just held in place with a single bolt. cant imagine something else being much different.

As highboy said it's very easy. If you look at the FAQ thread at the top of the page you'll find good information on calculating what gear you will need.

The plastic DRIVEN gear, on the end of the speedometer cable, come with 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 teeth.

The same gears have been used since 1960, and are available from Ford.

Prices range from $2.00 to $3.50 each.

Some F100/350's with a manual transmission used fiber or iron DRIVEN gears. These are obsolete, and can be tough to find.
