Electrical problem w/brake lights

Every so often the fuse for the brake lights blows. I've stripped the wiring harness from the brake lights to the firewall. Didn't find any bare spots.
While on a trip I used the Emerg. flashers for a few minutes and the fuseuse blew. Can a flasher relay go bad and cause problems?
Not looking forward to tackling the wiring underneath the dash.

Do you have a trailer plug in on the back?

Those are probably where 90% of the brake light problems are located.

Also another place, since the turn, brake and 4 way flashers all use the same filament in the rear lights, brake power goes through the turn signal/4 way flasher switch.

So the next place to look could be in the turn signal switch.

Bad flasher could be possible, but that usually means no flash instead of blown fuses.
