hey guys i got my truck back from the stealer today for a new turbo center section, when i got home, 20min drive in 34 deg weather, popped the hood checked all various hoses screws and what not, well the degas cap was slightly left loose. it was 3/4 threaded on but not all the way down not clicking when it it fully on properly. did this cause some/any possible damage to my engine possibly? my needle moved in the normal fashion until mid range, and stayed there as it always does fan never kicked on at all. will this cause a issue in the future with the cooling system or engine or am i ok? i thought the system needs to be 16psi pressurized to work properly to function and not having a vent like this? please help i asked the service mgr. he said it was non-issue but he is a new guy can i trust his answer?

You should be fine. The reason for the 16psi pressure is to raise the boiling point of the coolant. So the worst thing that could happen with a loose or malfunctioning cap is boiling coolant off. And it would take more than just regular driving to boil it off at any significant raite. Since you found it right off (and I'm sure you've checked your coolant levels), you should have no problems.
As long as you still had coolant in your degas bottle you're fine.
If the bottle's empty then you run the risk of uncovering some of the tube runs in the radiator which could develop some scale and reduce the heat transfer ability.
...and remember that the new coolent level is NOT where is was when truck was new!! It's about 2-3" lower on the bottle. Dealer SHOULD have installed the new decal for coolent level.
6SLPSD, not trying to be preachy, I am no mechanic, I do oil and fuel filters on mine, that is about it. My policy is that I do a mini-inspection after any service, no matter who is doing the work. If I get tires rotated and balanced, boom, check to make sure work was done (chalk mark rears, for example) and check that valve stem caps are on, check tire pressure also. We used to pick up fire trucks from our maintenance shop, drive all the way back to the station, and then find stuff wrong...not good. So that is where it started for me, we always did an onsite inspection, it pisses people off, but saves time and headaches later.

My 2 cents...
yeah your headaches become mine. i dont get payed for the call back too. kinda makes it hard to pay the bills and feed my fanny. some get so touchy. no offence its a good idea to do that. but some people take it too far. Example: had one the other day did a rotation on, it came in with a tire scuff on it and he said i did it. spent 45 minutes trying to clean a flippin tire. this is'nt directed at you but for everyone else that takes it to far.... chillax lol. good advice tho ive seen the chalk marks on some trucks.
