Dumb question time
Can't believe I have to ask this but,.... I am having to replace the fender and front end of my truck due to an accident. While locating parts I came across "fender welting" some are listed as black and some are chromed. What is it? Where is it used? And how is it applied?
Thanks,
Lee
Do you need it? If you are working on an old truck that had it, then yes you do. If its from a modern era truck, probably not.
I know they had it back in the 50's,
there are never dumb ?
In the Forty's they used big metal staples to hold in place!
what yr vehicle are you working with ?
weather striping glue works ,but if it has bolts that pass through it
I would alow the bolts to pinch it ,so you could adjust it for looks and fit to the fender and body.

It's a 1970 model. Have to replace the front left fender, inner apron, valence, bumper, grill, and headlight stuff as the result of a collison with a Chebby. His fault but I will end up having to fix my truck myself as his insurance is totaling it. But that's another story.
