Just thought I'd share this info. I have a 2006 6.0. Took it in about a month ago, to have an induction cleaning done, it was a test for Ford to see if this is something needed for the 6.0. Anyway, when we removed the tube from the intercooler to the manifold, there was a LOT of engine oil in the tubing. My truck only has 33,000 miles on it, and doesn't see a ton of towing, but it has it's share with the boat and car trailer on occasion. Brought the truck back, to see what was going on. After removing the turbo, it was found that there was play in the vane shaft, and oil had been leaking from the turbo into the air tubing. The intercooler had a lot of oil in it also. So, turbo was replaced, and after cleaning, the tech decided to pressure test the intercooler, which was found to be leaking. So, add a new intercooler. Now, after running the engine, tech heard a buzzing/clicking noise on shutdown. Removed the turbo, disassembled, and found that the unison ring had not been replaced (reman turbo, didn't make me happy to find out). Tech notified Ford of the issue, Ford had Garrett send a brand new turbo.

Anyway, truck runs great now, and a big Kudos to the tech who took the time to check and double check everything.

 

Glad to hear things fixed correctly. As we speak my 45K-mile '06 F250 is in having the turbo inspected because of a tea kettle noise that comes and goes intermittently with acceleration and deceleration. What did you mean by induction cleaning in your initial post? Thanks.
