A couple of weeks a guy posted here that LEDs had messed up the shifting of his E4OD trans. Was OK again when he refitted stock.
Most of the ones on Ebay that you see for our years are LED "style" taillights. They actually use regular bulbs, but look like LEDs.
Yes he is right. Ebay has the "LED" Lights that still take the regular bulbs. Ive never seen a true LED tail light for our trucks. But you could just use the LED bulbs that go in place of the stockers and like TexasGuy was saying switch to an electronic flasher.
If anyone does find the full LED taillights (the ones that look stock but have LED bulbs) please post because these have been on my list since I got the truck. The Euro / Altezza look isn't what I want for my trck.
I'm suprised no one has made them yet for our trucks. We have a pretty popular body style, but some parts get really hard to find. Expecially aftermarket stuff. Unlike Chevy, that you can get anything for about any year easily. I've been looking for these lights for a long time and hoped you guys knew something I didn't. Looks like a common problem. Thanks for the help guys
You can get LED bulbs that actually fit in the stock 1157 receptacle.....I have one on my snowmobile that I havent decided on if I want to put them on my truck or not.....
I did full LED's in my 59 VW Bus a while back.
You need an LED specific Flasher. Regular auto parts store electronic doesn't work quite right.
Best source I found on the 1157 type bulbs is www.autolumination.com Tail Light Brake Light Turn Signal LED Bulbs
Also, if you have any questions just email them. They respond very promptly.
