Brand new to this site. Had other forums keep mentioning this one so I thought I'd join up. In the Phoenix area. Building a '48 F1. Looking for ideas and help along the way. Seems like the place to be. Been a fabricator for most of my life. Now semi retired and playin.
Always good to have another Bonus Built truck on here. As far at the truck, I say if its close enugh to get running and driveable then go for it. Make it where its driveable and then do just that for awhile. Let it have some time to get to know you and you to get to know it, it will soon tell you what direction it wants to go.
Another benefit of this method is that you will have some great memories that will help you through the rough times, and there will be rough times...lol.
You'll find that this is a friendly place. There's not a lot of foul language, bad attitudes, or people being mean just because they can, which is pretty common on other boards.
When you get settled in, try your hand at putting a gallery together and posting a pic or two. We love pics around here.
Welcome, zeke51. Glad to have you. We can always use someone with fabrication knowledge to help those of us who believe "fabrication" is the tall stories we tell. Jump right in a share your expertise with us. Looking forward to following your project.
Thank you all. It sounds like the expertise level is very high. It is the many threads of you members that brought me here. The f1 im building is in the "holy crap is the fornt suspension options and opinions overwhelming!" stage. Am interested in this Xj6 swap. I like the simplicity. I dont mind tearing up a perfectly good frame and widening, shortening, lengthening or any other ing! But if I dont have to thats better. Remember Im old(?) (tongue in cheek)
There has been alot of interesting threads on the jag front suspensions on this site. A "search" should turn them up (if you use advanced search you can limit the search just to the 48-60 forum and narrow the field a bit)
From what I understand its a fairly easy swap and almost a bolt in. We do have several members here who have done it and hopefully they will chime in on it. Since my truck isn't a daily driver I opted for the stock suspension. I have upgraded to power steering and disc brakes though.
Welcome to the forum. Nice to see some local talent in the area.
I'm a "kit" fabricator, i.e., if I can find a premade part and bolt it on, then I'm good to go. Otherwise, I'm SOL. However, if you have a computer question, I may be able to help.
You'll find some great talent and advice on this forum, so you came to the right place.
Actually had considered doing that but thought it would be fun to tackle a susp. swap. Remember Im semi retired and apparently have a lot of time on my hands (again tongue in cheek).
Welcome to the forum. I believe this is the best place on the Internet! There's a wide range of expertise and experience here, and everyone brings something to the table.
Unlike some other forums, you don't have to prove yourself up front to be welcomed here.
