I saw in a previous thread that a good way to boost performance is with the air intake tube from an I6 or 460. My truck has a 302 with stock airbox. My parts truck has the 300 with a K&N FIPK (the air box is removed). So I could just switch the whole thing over (filter and air intake tubes) to my 302? Hope this question doesnt sound stupid. Thanks.
Yep, that will work as far as the intake from the grill to the air box. But you probably need to retain your stock 5.0 air box and tubes to the upper intake.
The tube they talk about switching is the inlet to the air filter box, not the tubes between the box and the engine. On many 302's it's a snorkel that goes from the airbox to the top of the radiator core support, while on the 300/460, it turns and goes straight to the front of the truck through a hole in the core support.
