Spindle play?

Spindle play?
After removing the front drivers tire to replace the brake pads in my son's 94 Bronco, I discovered that the whole hub moves slightly up and down. While looking at the lower ball joint, I could see the spindle moving slightly around the ball joint. Is this play normal or does it mean I have to replace the ball joints?

Next question - If everything comes apart as expected and I have all the proper tools, how long does one side typically take from being to end of job?

Last time I did it was along time ago. Although one of mine is needing it soon. I believe I did it in a day. (both sides) I had barood a kit to press them out/in. I've seen you can buy these kits cheap from JC whitney or Harbor freight. You might be able to barow one from auto-zone. I would get one for sure.

If you have the knuckle and spindle that far apart, take the time to inspect the bearings int here too. They may be fine but no point in re-installing something that may be on its way out.
