4r100 filter
Going to be putting in a rebuilt 4r100 this weekend and have been thinking about putting a spin on trans filter kit from Summit, any thoughts on the idea. Seems like it should help keep the the contamination out and also just help keep the transmission fluid clean, the pan filter in these can't do much other than keep the big chunks of whatever out of the trans itself.

It's a good idea, it never hurts to filter things down. Just remember, that trash is still collecting in the pan. I believe the fluid gets sucked into the filter, pumped through the wormtrail and other bits, then flushed through the cooling system.

I've always been a fan of the Magna-fine inline filter that you place between the cooler and the tranny. The magnet inside helps trap any metal shavings that may be in the cooler or lines and keep them from getting in your new tranny.
