truck started acting up this morning

I was on my way to work this morning and my truck started shaking when I was trying to stop. It feels like the torque converter is not unlocking the way it should when I stop. It does not seem to unlock till I am almost at a stop and the engine is being pulled down to a point where it is struggling to stay on and is actually shaking the truck. this shaking seems to be what gets it to unlock. Any ideas as to what I am in for, is this something that can be fixed with a re tune, or am I going to have to break down and purchase a new on? Truck is well out of warranty so I am asking for advise to try to avoid getting ripped off, I have little experience with automatic trannies, all my others have been standards.

Not anything noticeable at cruising. it only shakes when you are stopping and the engine is being pulled below about 500 rpms. This morning it actually cut off.

No codes, that is another thing that got me, I really don't know what way to turn other than forking out some $$$ and taking it to a shop.

the torque converter should only be locking up in top gear at higher RPM. does it happen when just casually driving down side streets or around town?

it happens when ever i try to stop or the tranny changes gear, you and feel a harder, more hesitant shift than prior. and as i stated before it doesn't seem to disengage till below 500 rpm, when the engine is starting to struggle. location and driving style doesn't seem to effect it, but it is more noticeable in colder temperatures.
