I am working on restoring an 84 F-150 4x4 and i am looking for help identifying the motor that is in it.
The VIN number indicates that the original motor for the truck was a 4.9L 300 ci I-6 but the motor in the truck is definitely a V-8. I believe it to be a 302 but I am not sure. Is there a data plate on the motor that will identify it? Are there other signs to look for?
It has been awhile for me, but I think if you look on the intake and get the firing order it will help you. a 302 firing order ends with ******78 and a 351 does not, so if the firing order ends with 7 8 then chances are it is a 302, I hope this helps
