Would they fit on an 08 f250 and vice versa? I doubt it but I know a guy that wants to get tow mirrors for his truck..

 

no idea, I don't even know if and how to fit the non-tow mirrors onto my truck haha

 

i'm sort of in the same boat. i really like the tow mirrors from the inside but they are too big for the truck. however i have noticed that the trucks with tow mirrors look a lot more balanced when they have a lift kit. i plan on a 2.5" as leveling kit and some bigger rubber to start with.

 

the mirrors for the 2009 F-150 are interchangeable between the 2004-2008 models as well.


If we lived closer togother, I'd see about a trade with you. Might want to drop into the 04-08 forum and ask them there.


I know for a fact that several 04-08 guys have already done the 09+ mirror swap with 0 problems. Hope this helps

New to the site. Just bought 09 lariat. Will be towing a 26ft travel trailer. I have a towing package on the truck but the mirrors don't extend. I really like the looks of my truck and don't want to put new mirrors on. How important are the tow mirrors. I have towed boats, pop up campers, trailers etc. but never a travel trailer.

 

Most travel trailers are 96" wide. Some of the super lightweight models are less.

With a 96" wide trailer and no tow mirrors, you wont be able to back straight because you wont be able to see down the sides of the trailer. Its funny for others to watch and can be embarrassing for the vehicle operator. The second and potentially more serious issue is you'll have large blind spots on both sides of the trailer near the rear which makes changing lanes dangerous.

Some States require tow mirrors by law. In those States, the law usually mentions something like... "if the trailer is wider than the tow vehicle, then side view mirrors that extend beyond the trailer width are required." I don't know of too many cases when such laws have been enforced but many years ago I was pulled over in California by a highway patrolman. He stood near the rear of my trailer on both sides and asked me to tell him how many times he lifted and crossed his arms in front of him. Fortunately my mirrors were adequate but he said he would have cited me for inadequate mirrors if I couldn't pass his little test. That was 20 years ago.

If I didn't have the tow mirrors on my XLT, I'd have kept the Hensley McKesh tow mirrors I used when I towed with my old F150. They are temporary tow mirrors that are easily installed and removed, super stable, and great for towing. The best temporary mirrors I've ever used.

 

I am interested in trading for the tow mirrors, but my question is, what about the interior controls? wont they be different? ghoyt, are you still interested in a trade? Im in NM

 

not that I have 4k miles on the truck I have decided to keep them, I really don't like the way they look but using them is amazing..
