1996 Explorer Transfer case Problem
Ok so iam replaced the transfer case in my 96 explorer. I was lucky enough to get one from the parts yard, but here is my problem. When they took the electric motor off the rear of the case they pulled the brown wire out of the case. This wire is brown and goes in the case next to the output shaft. WHat does this wire due and am i going to have to split the case to repair? Need help fast, thanks

Wish you had a photo so we could see exactly what you are referring to. I ahve a Haynes manual that provides a pretty decent set of labeled sketches of the T-case. That may be your best bet. Whatever the wire went into shoudl be a repacable part. Assuming that you did not ahve to offer up your old one as a care, why not rob that part off of the old tranny??
