Turbo for Van
I have a Ford short school bus that I'm converting to be my work vehicle. It has a wheel chair lift for heavy equipment and lots of room for storage. It's an '87 E350 with an '89 7.3L IDI in it. The engine has low miles (about 45,000) and seems strong, besides hard starting, which I've attributed to the fuel return lines (will fix soon).
Anyhow, I found a turbo that I can get through trade. It's a Banks setup off of an F250 with the same engine. So my question is, can I make this turbo work in the van?
It looks like there's adequate clearance since most of the works are in the back of the engine and that's easy access in the van. I could even modify the interior engine cover if necessary.
I've read from previous posts that Hypermax has the only turbo made to fit these vans, and I'm hoping someone has tried this before with a Banks. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
