dash lights dont work..HELP

dash lights dont work..HELP

my dash lights on my 79 stoped working and i cant figure out why, i checked my fuses, cleaned up all connections on the back, and as a last ditch effort replaced all the bulbs....... is there a hiddin relay or somthing that i'm missing. i was told thats a commen problem with 70's ford truck but nobody i know knows how to fix it..........a little help would be great. thanks

A common problem with them would be the dimmer control on the headlight switch. Make sure you have power coming out of the switch on the blue/red wire. Also you can pull the fuse for the instrument lights and make sure you have power on one of the fuse terminals with the headlight switch pulled out.

Dash light problem

I have the same thing going on. Checked all my fuses, OK. Also lost on head light warning for when you turn truck off and pull key. The dimmer switch you speak of dims the dash lights, also turns on overhead lights?

Yes, it controls dash lights, cabin lights, marker lights, and headlights. Headlight switches do go bad.

I do appricate your reply. Can't believe that thing only lasted 7 yrs, lol. I have 186,000 on ole Grey and like you said stuff gos bad after a while.
