Pinion Seal

Hey guys new to the site and love it! Got an 01 F150 thats got a real pinion seal leak. Got a quick question, do I have to remove the everything(cover, axles, gear...) or can I get to it with just removing the driveshaft? Is it going to pretty much depend on the rear crush bearing and its state of crush? Also mabe a few points or anything to help on this little project.

Welcome to FTE.. I'm afraid I don't have the torque spec.s for the crush sleeve will have to check the manual for that. Last one I did on a gmc. we did all from the the driveline end. (pinon shaft) I would also check why the seal is leaking is there a groove worn in the yoke? if there is and emry paper won't remove it you will need to install a speedy sleeve to provide a smooth surface for the seal to rub on or it will leak again, anouther possibility is the bearings are getting worn look for up and down movement of the yoke before you remove it. then check the surface of the rollers of the bearing and the race in the case you will be looking for clean shiny surfaces and pitting is bad news and gets more technical to replace but lets not worry about that until you know.
