I have never owned a diesel but have been looking at some for when I do upgrade. I found an 01 F250 ext cab short bed, 2wd, auto. I assume it is the 7.3 and it has about 139,000 for $10,900. Is this a good price? How about the milage? With regular maint. how many miles could I expect to put on this truck without serious probs? I know it is alot of questions but I need to be schooled on what to look for on a used truck. -D
Welcome to FTE. That's what I consider low mileage. No major problems with mine yet.
As for what to look for, my opinion is the first thing you need to do is take the top off the air filter and check for any signs of dirt in the intake tube. If you see some, pull the tube and inspect the wheel for any signs of damage or play. Here's a link on what all to check when buying one of these trucks. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...questions.html
Look up Firefighter 1406......a post today I beleve. He is trying to sell what you are looking for......always better to buy from an FTE brother if you can.

That's the great thing about this site. So many people willing to help each other.
I have learned so much about my truck and how to maintain it from everyone here.
Doesn't get any better than this when it comes to Ford Trucks!
