Glow plug issue
The vehicle is a 1992 Ford with 7.3 IDI engine
The issue is the second glow plug back on the left side is having repeat failures.
The first time it just failed open.
The second time i tested it, open and when i went to remove it, it was difficult to remove from the hole. When i finally got it out, the bottom was expanded, the very bottom of the part that gets hot. I thought maybe a defective new glow plug?
I have a bore light that I can see inside the bore and no obstructions or anything contacting anything.
I then screwed another defective one in and torqued to 12 ft pounds, then removed it, looked good.
I then installed a new glow plug, torqued to 12 ft pounds, cycled the key and tested the glow plug, failed new glow plug, one key cycle. I tried to remove it and the same problem, swelled up at the verry bottom about 1/4" up from the tip.
This all started after installling a set of reman cylinder heads. The controler has also recently been replaced.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks
