My FIL has decided it's time to get a truck with a dump bed on it. Through his searching he has turned up an 06' F550 with 38k on it. He says the dump bed is very lightly used and the truck drove perfect. It's a standard cab and pretty much not loaded with options,Guy is asking $24,900. Engine is a 6.0 with automatic.
First question is about the price. Seems ok to me but I am no expert.
Next is about the differences in frame strength over say an f350?
i did some work on a few fleet f550s last year, and they seem to be how do you say "built like tanks" to me. they should make new badges for them cause they are not super dutys, they are like super super duper duties.lol
There is a difference not only in the frame, but in the suspension, rear end, brakes and so on. Much stronger than a F-350. As for the price do a search for a like truck on Ebay. Search for current as well as completed auctions. The dump bed on a truck is not a real popular option...not too many people want one or have the use for one. Kind of like a selling a house with a swimming pool...not every one wants it but it is still there for better or worse.
Have someone run an Oasis Report on the truck and check for warranty and maintance issues on the 6.0 PSD.
