Recently my functions control for the defroster heater quit working and it is stuck on defrost and wont change. The temperature still works but I cant switch out of defrost. I can hear it cycle when moving from defrost to floor and AC. Where is a place to start and look? Thanks.

sounds like You have a vacuum leak ,,usually at the front hubs if you have a 4 W D
vacuum pump lives around under the A/C drier on the passenger side. stupid heat controls came off a gasser so Ford goofed up a pump to operate what is normally intake powered. the hoses go bad after a while, especially in smoggy cities, more so if you have 4wd. Look at where the lines go into the hubs, or if 2wd, start at the pump and head to the dash
So do the lines coming off of the pump go into a vacuum reservoir and then head out to everywhere after going through that? My pump just runs and doesn't ever shut off. If I pull the line off of it and put my finger over it it turns off. I checked the hubs and they all look ok. Do I need to pull the tires off to get in there and really check em? Do they just leak where they make the connection to the hub or along the way also? Thanks
No resevoir, just get you same hose and replace all of em, if one has cracked the others arent far behind. No need to remove the hubs the hoses are broken or cracked somewhere on their way to the connections.
Found the problem it was the lines going down to the hubs. Will get it fixed up this weekend if I have time. I just plugged it off for now so I can have heater control back. Thanks for the help.
