I had my '08 SD torqshift transmission serviced recently. On the way home the return line to the external filter came loose and I lost all my fluid. The truck shifted hard a couple of times and then just quit. I was able to get off the road OK. From the point where the line came off and where I stopped was only about 1/4-1/2 mile. The service department says the computer said there was no damage and refilled/reattached and off I went. Do you think I suffered any damage? Thanks for any and all respones
I think I would ask them to extend the tranny warranty to match the engine warranty. I am assuming that they did something to cause the line to disconnect.
I do not known about the Ford trans. But I am a Nissan tech and
ever time one of our trans lost all the fluid they damaged to the
point they had to be replaced I had one on a Titan that I tried
refilling and if was back in a month and had to be replaced.
You said it was just serviced did they do a flush? If so that line
is removed to hook up the flush machine.and the clamp was
not reinstalled correctly. If this is the case the dealer is just
trying to cover thier butt so they do not have to buy a tranny.
for a mistake by thier tech who probaly had no intention
of leaving it loose thing happen but you should pay close
atention to your trans.
I looked up under too and all seemed right. I drove about 4 miles before it started leaking. They said it was their fault because I did complain. I do like this service department, they have always been good to me. I guess we will see
Did you get another ticket/receipt/repair order when the dealer filled the trans the 2nd time? Does it show in OASIS? Make sure there is a record of it. If it shows in OASIS then call Ford as Senix suggested because they will be able to see that. If its not in OASIS then get a copy of the tow bill, repair order, anything you can so its documented. That way you have some sort of ammunition when you call Ford. What if it takes a year to fail? If you have no documents to prove it, and your service manager is no longer at the dealer, what leg do you have to stand on.
