I run 10 deg base timing..not sure of total timing... Custom chip..Just know what tunner wrote on dyno sheet That the truck likes a 12.8:1 air fuel ratio with an aggessive timing cure 93 octane fuel....We use a MSD timing box so we can retard or advance the timing with the turn of a **** on dash..This is good for nitrous...You can retard the timing before you spray & turn it back when your done so the truck runs good..If you use 93 fuel i would think you could run 12-14 base timing..Sometimes just play with it see if it likes it ..
Most people in this forum are running EFI and can only adjust the base timing, which shifts the curve up or down, but the shape of the curve can't be changed unless a custom chip or tuner is used.
that makes sense thanks for the responses i run 96 fuel in it so i think i'm going to try like 12 or 13* today and see if it's pinging, i would love to get a timing retard **** hah is that politically correct? but i dont have the money to spend on an msd box and the **** and i have an HEI dissy so i'm not even sure how i would wire up the box
thatnks that does help i have been playing with my timing curve all day and almost have it down but just ran into a charging problem and now my alternator isn't charging for some reason, really really pisses me off cause i just replaced the entire charging system
