Vortex, Paxton, Whipple just to name a few. $2,000 - $3,000 depending on manufacturer and model. Any truck magazine will have ads for them or a good aftermarket parts warehouse/store. Read all fine print thoroghly when it comes to warranty. Although they won't void your warranty entirely, any damage caused by them probably won't be covered by any dealer in the land.
If you go blown, eventualy something will fail, i.e. no factory warrenty will cover the engine failure that will happen. As soon as you put it on...you are on your own.
I disagree, you just need to maintain a reasonable amount of boost in order to keep internals from failing prematurely. There are too many people out there with aftermarket bolt on superchargers on their vehicles for it to be a guarantee that something will fail because of them.
You have to have a good tune (i.e lean is bad). You really don't see to many people that put on a aftermarket unit and get 50,000-100,000 miles service out of it without something going boom. Rich tune is good but steals max horsepower. It is a fine line to be sure.
Yeah, and alot of people with bolt on chargers get addicted to "more power" ha ha. Trying to get that one last tweak and...BOOM. I know of two people with bolt ons that each have close to 200,000 miles on them. Depends on how ya tune for sure..and how ya drive.
Make sure you upgrade your transmission so it can handle the added power.I know from experience.....the tranny behind my supercharged EFI460(a E4OD)is going to be replaced by a stronger E4OD.This isn't the best way to upgrade, you know......automatic transmissions aren't cheap!
