Question about cooling

I have a 92 F-150 with a 5.8L, e4od 4x4. My question is would a faulty thermostat cause the cooling fan not to engage due to the fact the it is stuck open and is not getting hot enough for it to engage? The reason Iask this is cause the gauge never reads above the "N" in normoal and the fan never kicks on. Thanks for any help or advice.

Danny

Well, if you let the truck sit still and idle and with no fan action it should definitely heat up. That is how I would test it. Watch the temperature guage closely while doing this so you don't overheat and damage the engine.

I just put a new radiator in my truck and when setting the fan we used a thermometer and noticed that the "O" in normal is only 200 degrees. suprised the F out of me
