What is the silver ring on the bottom of my steering column under the dash.
I have slacking in the shaft that goes from the column to the gear box. I checked at FORD and found there is no such bushing to take out the slack, I would have to buy the whole shaft at 248.00. I went to a friend of mine Auto Recycling Yard, this one is not a JUNK YARD. Anyway, they had the shaft from a 94 so I got it, FREE of course, he never charges me. Anyway, I was wondering what that silver ring is. I dont want to mess it up if it has some importance, but nothing seems to attach to it or anything, it just seems to be there maybe for another accessory or something.
Never mind, I changed the shaft and now I have zero slack. I know somebody on here said something about a bushing that will fall out that belongs in the telescoping shaft but I could not find even wher one would go. The old shaft had very very little slack, anyway, ther is zero now.
I would still like to know what that silver ring is on the end of the column under the dash
