I know seems to be a question (Lifting Struts) beaten to death, but you would think by now, there would be some feedback on both struts as far a ride and adjustability to help out others who havent purchased yet?
Only heard one guy who says the Bilsteins ride is stiff, but wanted to hear about the adjustable Ranchos?
I just installed the Rancho QuikLifts on mine. Look for a thread from this weekend by that name for some pics. I think they're great. Ride is completely adjustable from soft to firm. The Rancho's are a little more expensive than the Bilstein, and have a newer presence in the marketplace. I haven't riden with the Bilstein's but I also heard they had a stiffer ride. I have mine set to 5 (mid-point) and seem to be near the stock struts in term of ride. Now bear in mind, my stock struts only had 2,300 miles on them too. I will be installing the remote controller when I have the time to adjust the shocks from the cab.
Wainting for a ride report, coming down to the wire with me. Bilstein's or the Rancho Quciklift, but I want an opinion on the ride qaulity, I tow a 28' Magic deckboat in the summer. Buying the Edge Evoa and gonna add 305/55/20 Nitto Dura Grapplers. ANy updates?
I would go Rancho again. I have the front and rears set on 5 and it's a firm setting and good compromise for most driving situations. The rear is not as bouncy over hard bumps as it was with the stock shocks. I haven't experimented with settings and have not installed the remote yet. I've been busy with other mods/projects. I don't know how they compare with the Bilstein's since I've never ridden in a truck with them, but if you can't find the ride you like with 9 settings, you're just too finicky. I don't know about the Bilsteins, but the Rancho shocks have polyurethane bushings instead of rubber.
Im not sure on the other two. But as far as a tuner goes for custom tunes go with SCT x3. Hands down this thing is great. I love mine. I got the 87 economy tune,91 performance tune (really moves the truck now), and 91 tow. I towed a 15 foot steel utility trailer with 2 polaris sportsman quads 500 miles and got 15 mpg with it. With out the trailer on the way up with 1 quad in the back I got 15 also on econo. Probably should have tried tow also with the extra weight. I would talk to Mike from 5 star tunning. He can hook you up real good and its a good price. Plus you got the best customer service hands down then any other company I have ever seen.
