Just got my truck back from the body shop, had driversside door replaced but used original door guts. Now I have a inverted dome light signal on that door only, meaning door open light out; door closed light on and door ajar light on the dash. Had to drive home with light on. I have had problems with this door switch before and wd 40 did the trick but I do not want to try it becuase of fresh paint. I imagine it is dirty but cannot reason why the switch would be acting backwards? Is there a common and a N.O. and N.C. connection that could have been reversed? This makes no sense to me, anyone else ever see this?
The only thing I can think of is that they mis-installed the door switch wrong so that the spring closes the circuit with the plunger pushed in and loses contact when the door is open. Very strange. Hard to believe that the body shop thought that it was normal to operate that way.
Called body shop guy and he finally admits something is wrong, he is willing to work with me on this one. Started another post on door component compatability and will post how this turns out.

The answer to everyone's problem is this............ at the bottom of the latch mechanism there is another part, its called the jamb switch/or warning light switch. Each parts store calls it a different thing. This part has a little hook that locks it into place and allows the button to connect to the latch correctly. Sometimes it wears. Spent hours on this. Mine was doing the same thing. Door open light off, door closed light and door ajar on. $30 at autozone fixed like new. Hope this helps thousands of aggrevated Ford owners.

do you have a link to that part? Can’t seem to find it.

i know this thread is old but I’m in the same situation right now on my driver door. I ordered a new door jamb switch and had it completely out and plugged in but still did the same thing when the plunger was pushed in as it is suppose to be when the door is open the lights and chime would turn off and the plunger up the chime comes on and lights turn on. I cut the two wires and switched them and still does the same thing. So idk what else to do it’s literally reversed off what it’s suppose to do. Can any Ford electrical tech chime in and see what it could be before I take it in to Ford and waste money on a diag for them to tell me they don’t know.
So I just replaced my busted jamb switch and it was working in an opposite polarity (door ajar light on when closed / door ajar light off when open). Looked at the part I bought on amazon and it's contact type says "Normally Closed". Did a little searching and found one with a Ford logo on it with a contact type that says "Normally open" Just ordered it and hoping that it'll work.
Bad part:
Normally open and Normally Closed door lock interior light switches
I think there's a difference in years for the interior light switch in the door jamb latch. We swapped out our 2005 F350 Super Duty XT rotted doors with doors from a much nicer 2013 from a scrap yard. Interior lights and "door ajar" came on when doors closed, and off when doors open 😅
Checking the switch contacts between old and newer doors, they were opposite switches! (Between normally on and normally off switch types) Luckily same clips, so just carefully unclip and swap switches. Lol thank's Ford engineers.
