Is there a neutral safety switch in the on the 55 fordomatics? If so, were is it and does anyone have a picture of it installed?

I have seen pictures for those on e-bay, and it appears that yes they did have them; and they appeared to be mounted on the shift column itself. I have a Ford-o-matic service manual "somewhere" in the garage. I'll see if I can find it, and if I can find anything else about it, I'll get back to you.

The entire column is illustrated here:
** 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog, Volume II: Illustration Catalog, Section A72, page 237.
Look for Ford basic part number
7A247 shown at the bottom of the column (far left in the illustration).
B2AZ7A247A .. Neutral Switch /
Obsolete
Fits: 1953/56 F100/350 / 1952/54 Ford Passenger Cars.
B & L FORD, INC. in Ashland PA has ONE: 570-875-4417.

There's no link in my post, you need the parts catalog to see the illustration.
Several members of this forum have the catalog on a CD and can scan & post illustrations.
I use the original bound paper catalogs. I cannot scan and post pics.
I just do not have the time nor the expertise to do this.
Looking up, and searching for obsolete parts for FTE members is time consuming enough.
Did'ja notice? I found
18 of the correct original neutral switches at 4 sources.

Thank you, Sir!!
OP: The NSS is on the steering column, not on the trans (it wasn't there till 1978!).
Look at the illustration on the lower left for basic part number: 7A247

Thank you both, it appears that the original, or last owner, remove the switch and all the wires.
Update: The bracket is there on the column I think I just need the switch. Would the same switch work if I have a 12 volt conversion?.

I called ANTIQUE AUTO SUPPLY in Arlington TX and ordered it for $35.00 and its on its way. They said it should be fine for 12v. I don't know if anyone here knows these people but they are very nice. Check out their video of their shop on youtube over 1 million parts

Yes it will work for 12 volt. It is a simple positional/contact type of switch.
