i had purchased an edge a while ago and wasn't happy with it. I ran into lots of codes my truck was throwing back at me so i returned it.
i just got another one and i'm pretty happy with it so far. The transmission shifts better and it seams a little peppier also...
my question is who has advanced the timing at all. I'm running power level 2 with 87 octane gas. How far have you guys advanced it safely? Also what have you guys done with adjusting shift firmness on the truck and what kind of results did you notice?
I run mine on level 3 w/91 Octaine. I did not change the shift firmness manually, I just rolled with what level 3 gave me. There was a big change in the shifting though.
I could'nt wait to fill up with 93 oct. and level three.(felt like a differant TRUCK)
I have heard about problems on the timing change, I also don't think I need it.
I changed shift firmness but realy could'nt tell any differance, left it at L3
Was your first EDGE just a junker ? Did they give an explanation?
i played with the timming a bit the book say .5 advance for each fuel grade so total out to 1.5 ..now i did get more power and keep mpg staying with level 2 with adjusted timming
and for trany frimness 3 for 1st to 2nd and 2 for the rest any thing more makes it a little rough for me
Any of you guys updated your edge through the computer like it says you can? I'm going to install the CD and see what happens. I have not done anything to my shifting but i normaly run on 2 and L3. I will be towing my car trailer with my 2-big quads on it from NJ to Lake George NY Friday afternoon i will be running on L2. I have towed on L3 befor i did notice a little bit of a difference. Anyone eles that tows and what do you run on?

Yea, if it's not broke leave it alone. It's not going to make your truck any faster.
I update mine all the time. I just run with the preset levels though so I don't have to worry about it erasing my stuff. I was tempted to fill up with 93 the other day as I was almost completely out of fuel but I did not. I have always just run level 2 for regular driving, towing, ect..
Did not end up updating it... So for now i'll leave it alone...
gui88- Where is your quad at? There is a ride next sat it's a poker run slash party.... (winter party that is.. Horse shoes and some other outside games.... Let me know we can meet up somewhere if you want? It is in Port Jervis NY.
I had to update mine right out of the box. It was painless. I run Level III, with shift firmness set for 6,6,3 and a top speed of 110 instead of the factory 99. You should see the looks on the Dodge 1500 owners when going to Wyoming when they max out at 99, and I go right past them. In case anyone is wondering, Dodge is either limited to 99, or they don't go any faster with the wind slamming into it.

The whole reason for the updates are to make adjustments, fix bugs and errors that they have found in the last release... It is always good to update, just don't do it the first few days they are released that way if it is a bad update you will hear something about it.

i would go but i'm going to be helping my cousin move her stuff next weekend. her roommate is moving out and she's moving so i'll be helping her next saturday. We'll have to get together some time and do some riding. I'm going to Ashland, Pa this weekend. We have lots of space up there to ride. If you want to come with some time i'm sure it would be fine with everyone so let me know.
