There are a few things that it could be, most likely of which are wheel bearings or ball joints or both. The easiest way to tell would be jack the tire off of the ground and see if there is play in any direction, and let us know what you find out.

You probably just need an alignment. Ford front ends on trucks are pretty bad at staying aligned.

thats what i was thinking. cuz sence i slid in some mud off the trail into a ditch it seams a little worse. but i wasnt sure.
but then why when i turn right in 4x4 i still have traction?

.. maybe ill take it to get it checked out if no one has a answer that i can fix. how much do alignements cost on 4x4s?

try checking your outter axle joints. They may be rusty inside. Lock in the hubs, leave the transfer in 2 wheel, turn the steering wheel all the way one way, jack up the front wheels and try to spin them. Then turn all the way the other way and try to spin them agian.

well when you turn the steering wheel all the way one way your putting the most angle on your axle joints. So if you feel the tire bind while trying to rotate it, your joints are likely rusty and need replacing.

well then your in for a big treat. You'll have to buy the ford front wheel bearing lock nut tool to do the job. I'm assuming that you don't allready have one. If you have a hanes manual that should get you through it. Just look up "changing wheel bearings." have fun
