OK, i am getting throughly Ticked at my shifter ****. My factory one broke right before ike hit. Since then i have gone through 3 pos' from autozone and oreilly. Now my q is Where do i get a replacement oem type ****? Dealers are almost out of the question, the closest is about 40 miles from my drive. I would like to find one online somewhere so i can quit holding the dang thing while i drive. It's getting rather annoying...

On my dad's 87, I shortened the stick a bit, picked up a female to male adapter and **** from a truck stop. Weld the adapter to the stick, smoothed up on a grinder, paint and screw the **** on. Works good for automatic's too.
With the threaded adapter you have all kinds of options for *****, extensions ect. and they don't come apart or slide off. I never like where the OEM location are for a shift handle anyway. Must be a throwback to truck driving days.

For OEM (if still available) try ftepartsguy.com or directfordparts.com both in the list of sponsors and both keen prices.
Just for the fun of it, I got a free incomplete 7.3l IDI that was all rusted out and no way in hell I'd put that in anything. So for the fun of it, I took a piston and cleaned it up, tapped a hole and tack welded a stud on the shifter and threaded the piston to the original shifter. Like my sig. says....its big and obnoxious!!
The good part is, if I would like to have the original ****, just break the tacks and shove the OE **** back on.
just for a different look, my son took a dummy grenade and used it for a shifter **** in his truck. i keep waiting for somebody to pull the pin on it and see if the toyota will detonate. LOL it really does look pretty slick, all in all.
