I recently picked up a 2002 F-250 Powerstroke. It's really got some pickup, so I suspect it's been tuned/chipped at some point, but I'm not positive. My mechanic agrees that he doesn't believe it's in stock configuration. How can I tell if it's had some type of tuning done previously?
I'd like to put a DP-Tuner on it, to try to help with gas mileage at times, but am worried that if it's had something done previously, that trying to add the tuner would turn into a disaster.
I've learned a lot just lurking on this forum for the past couple of months. Thanks for sharing all of the valuable info that's available here.
You can put a DP-TUNER on your PCM even if it has been tuned. The DP will override any tune on the PCM. You could look to see if the PCM has a chip on it also. Can you ask whoever sold you the truck if the truck has been tuned?
