A4LD weird shifting problems

This is a ongoing problem for about 4 months; 86 Bronco II with 2.9 V6 4WD

Can let it sit for days without driving, crank it up and can put into drive and go- no problems until it warms up. Shifts become erractic from holding in 1st until rpm's reach 3000-3500 then shifts to 2; take off from stop and feels like shifting from 1 to 3; sometimes maybe shifts are perfect and sometimes not. When tranny is hot D is slow to engage and also reverse but when cold everything is perfect. I have changed:

filter/fluid twice ( fluid clean with no foreign particles found)
vacuum modulator and hose to T on intake

Does this sound like internal damage needing a rebuild or a fix I can do in the garage. Hate to pull tranny and it be something simple but I'm lost on autos. Can valve body be moving trash after it warms but when cold it takes awhile for it to pump around and cause problems. Please give some input and what I may try before I pull it out.

You could try playing around with throttle pressure, that is a vaccum modulator on some vehicles, and a cable or linkage on others.
Make sure the fluid level is right. It could be internal leakage since it is heat related.
I wouldn't want to say change the fluid and waste the $ finding out you need to change it or rebuild it.
