Aight so I just had my first problem with my truck. About a week ago my truck lost power while under hard acceleration and the water in fuel light and the glow plug lights came on and has gotten progressively worse over the last week. It happend about three to four times today, once while barely accelerating up a hill. I did some research and changed the fuel filters and drained the water, fueled up and added a bottle of power service. Still doing the same thing just not as bad. Runs fine under normal driving conditions but under really hard acceleration it cuts out just like its not getting any fuel. Is this just a case of water in the fuel or do I have a bigger problem. Any ideas?
When you drain from HFCM does it show water still in the fuel? If it does you are hurtin those injectors still running that fuel. I would try draining again and seeing if there is still water(glass jar). If there is no water then your HFCM is bunged up and you might need a new one. IDK if the glow plug light is a warning a glow plug is out, dont think its related to the fuel. Where did you get this fuel, why not go back and give them hell about hteir crappy fuel and let them know they are buying you new injectors and stuff if they dont make it right. You need to get that old fuel out and get some clean new stuff in there at any rate. Water turns to steam in the injector and burns the tips out, so its not advisable to keep runing it like that, especially if you are pulling.
When the initial problem occured I had bought fuel at a shell station that I'd never used before and I only got about a 1/4 tank. And since then I've used the same stations that I've always used.
Take the top off the filter on the motor and turn the key to the on position and see if it has a good flow filling up or if its spitting and sputtering
I think may be bail out the tank. I wouldn't take any chances with water in the fuel. Years ago with a gas pickup I refuelled and ended up with a lot of water. Enough fuel in carb and lines to get home no problem and next morning no go.
I like to fuel where lots of other people fuel up, be fussy if you can.

Water in fuel can do some pretty bad damage depending on how much there was in the tank(of course then seperator can only handle so much before the rest is let on thru down the line) and how long you let it go before you drained it. You said you did some research, did the light and/or msg not come up on your dash(I didn't notice you say anything about that)? How long between initial issues, research, and then draining did it take you? Depending on how long that was, and you do indeed have water in fuel then that dinky little sensor could be toast as well.
If this was an issue at a station, rather bad shipment of fuel or water got in their storage tanks, I would try to find other people that have had this issue and get the station to foot the bills because this is not covered under your warranty(if you still have some left).

The glow plug light should not be turning on. If your truck seems to shut down and restart and the glow plug light illuminates I would suspect an intermittent electrical problem that interrupts power to the PCM.
If only the water in fuel light is turning on then (like mhoefer mentioned) you need to find out for sure if there is water in the fuel by inspecting the fuel that is drained from the HFCM. If there is no water, the water-in-fuel sensor needs to be cleaned.
